Schools for Special-Needs Children

May 2, 2009 at 1:34 PM 1 comment

Parents of a special-needs child will often choose their new neighborhood based on proximity to a school that can best enable the child’s growth.   The Hampton Roads Autism Support  blog can provide some local information, and the Commonwealth autism service  site discusses state-level programs.  For children with down syndrome, there’s a Down Syndrome networking group  that may be able to provide information on appropriate schools in the area.

There are also many other forms of special needs, so let us know about Tidewater resources you know about or have used.

I think this is neat. Of course I am interested in anything pertaining to chidren who have special needs. One suggestion: The term is Down Syndrome, rather than “down’s or downs.
Best of luck to you. I hope all is well with you.
